At Boones Creek Spinoni, our hope is to promote the health and well-being of Spinoni. Our purpose is to be intentional with the breed and make decisions that will preserve the intent and function of these beautiful creatures.
Having grown up with dogs, it just seemed natural to keep them in my life as an adult, and hopefully pass this love on to my children. It was at a dog show with my Greater Swiss Mountain Dog in 2003 that I discovered the Spinone Italiano. They intrigued me, but I never had the opportunity to meet one until 2020. At that time my daugher Zada was heavily involved in the show world of rabbits. It seemed like it might be a natural transition to move into the world of showing dogs.
This is where we met Shannon Barchalk and her crew from Fedele Spinoni. She is breeder and co-owner to our Poppy and Etta, along with her mom, Jeani Barchalk. What a support they have been!! Poppy arrived and it was an instant love for the breed. Zada stepped into the show ring with Poppy at 6 months old and they have been going strong ever since. We love the versatility of the Spinone, from AKC Conformation to Fast CAT, or an introduction to hunting to couch companion, they can do it all.
